XP
Facing Horrors isn't just about survival - it's about growth. When your Hunters confront and defeat these dreadful beings, they don't just walk away with a sense of accomplishment. They also gain experience points (XP), which represent the lessons learned, the skills honed, and the knowledge gained from their encounters.
The XP awarded for defeating a Horror scales with its level, reflecting the increased challenge and danger it presents. The tougher the Horror, the more XP your Hunters will earn upon its defeat.
Defeating a more difficult Horror isn't the only way to earn XP. Clever solutions, strategic thinking, and role-playing can all yield XP as well - so encourage your Hunters to think outside the box!
The table below provides a guide for XP awards based on Horror levels. As an Overseer, use it as a reference to keep your game balanced and your Hunters' progress steady.

Overseer: "With a final, resounding thud, the towering Horror collapses to the ground, defeated. As the dust settles, you feel a strange sensation - as if you've grown stronger, wiser, from this encounter."
John: "I guess we've learned a thing or two from this fight, huh?"
Amy: "You bet we did. I've never seen a Horror like that before!"
David: "Same here. But we did it, guys. We actually did it."
Overseer: "And for your courage and resourcefulness, you each gain 5000 XP. Well done, Hunters."
David, Amy, and John: "YES!"
In Obscured, every Horror defeated is a step towards becoming a more formidable Hunter. So, keep track of that XP - it's a testament to your Hunters' resilience and determination in the face of the unknown.
